VISIBLE DARKNESS – BOOK NEWS
date: 30 January 2010 at 09:25:31 - 0 comments

We have just received pre-publications copies of “A Visible Darkness” in paperback, which is due for release in the United Kingdom on 4th March, 2010. As you can see from the photo at the bottom of the page, this is the third format to be published for the UK market by Faber & Faber – hardback (actually a large trade paperback), export edition, and now the paperback.

The only real difference is the price, ranging down from £12.99 to £7.99 to £6.99.

As authors, we love receiving new editions of our books. But we wonder how publishers can afford to produce so many variants of the same thing, especially as they are now competing with digital editions designed for Kindle and the brand new iPad, too. If you take into consideration the American editions in hardback and paperback, it means that there are at least seven different variations of “A Visible Darkness” on the market, and all of them are, or will soon be, available in the UK.

Wouldn’t a single paperback original edition answer all the requirements for a print edition?

With these considerations in mind, we are pleased to announce that the FOURTH Hanno Stiffeniis novel “UNHOLY AWAKENING” (we are not telling anyone what it is about!) will be released in America at the end of summer, 2010, as a PAPERBACK ORIGINAL by our US publisher, St Martins-Minotaur. (Watch this space for a preview of the cover).

We believe that a paperback original represents quite literally “the best of all possible worlds” for both the publisher and the reader.

It offers the book immediately to the largest possible audience at the lowest possible price.

So, dear reader, if you would like to read Book 4, start saving. You won’t need to save so much this time. Or you will save more money sooner.

In either case, you will save…
